7 Secrets For Achieving Your Goals

I started on my self-improvement journey with no idea where to start. First, let me tell you who I am. My name is Melissa and I am a parent of two precious little humans. I have been on my journey for 8 years now. There are days that I don’t complete any goals and have some days that I able to complete more than one goal a day. I have learned how to give myself grace on the days that I don’t reach a goal.

Starting out though I had no idea what to do. I tried everything and kept getting nowhere with my attempts at completing goals. I don’t want that for you. That is why I am sharing my 7 secrets for achieving your goals. I wish I had these when I first started out so I could have known why I wasn’t able to accomplish any goal at all.

Secret #1: Be Clear On What You Want

When setting a goal make sure that the goal you set is very clear. When setting vague goals only sets you up for failure. Remember you want to set S.M.A.R.T. goals. Specific Measurable Attainable Time-based.

When I set a goal I make sure it is very specific so that way I can set smaller goals to achieve the big goal. Example of a big goal start 30-day journal challenge.

Be Clear On What You Want

When you start your self-improvement journey you will want to start a bunch of goals big and small. My list of goals was a whole page long. That is way to many goals at one time. Pick just one big goal to start on at first. Don’t overwhelm yourself or you will never start your journey.

Secret #2: Write It Down

I can not express this enough. Write down your goals. No matter how big or small the goal is write it down. When you write down your goal it has more power. Putting pen to paper is important when on a self-improvement journey.

I write down my big goal and than I write under that my smaller goals that I need to accomplish. I also plan in my planner what I will work on that day for my goal. Make sure you write in your planner about your goals also.

Secret #3:Practice Gratitude

Gratitude increases your happiness which leads to motivation to achieve your goals. The most imporant thing is that gratitude leads to happiness.

There are many different ways to show gratitude. Here are a couple of my favorite ways to show gratitude. Make a gratitude list, help out a family member or a friend, make a gratitude journal, and write a handwritten letter to somebody. Again these are only a few of my favorite. The handwritten letter is my absolute favorite and people love to receive those.

Secret #4:Self Compassion

Self-compassion is being able to give yourself some grace if you do not meet your goal. You will fail and you will mess up

That is when self-compassion is very important. Try to remember that nobody is perfect and that everyone falls short sometimes.


Remeber that self compassion is very important also in the achierving goals process. I know that I keep saying that a;ll of these are very important. That is what makes them such an important part of achieving your goals.

Secret #5:Be Passionate About Goals

Be passionate about the goals you have set for yourself. These are part of your self-improvement journey. Make sure while you set your goals that they mean something to you.

Some of the mistakes I made while setting my goals was that they meant nothing to me really. I was setting goals for my life that I thought would make other people happy.

Do Not do that. If you try to make your goals on what others want and not want you want than you won’t be passionate about achieving your goals.

Secret #6: Build A Support Crew

It is important to have support while you are trying to accomplish your goals. This can be a friend, mentor, life coach, or anyone that you are willing to talk to about your goals. The important part is that the person is there for you.

For your self-improvement journey, I would suggest a life coach. They will help you set up your goals and help you realize which ones are most important at the moment for you. Also, a life coach can listen to the situation or problem and be indifferent to the problem or situation.

Secret #7:Enjoy The Journey

The most important part is to enjoy the journey. If you don’t enjoy what you are doing then you won’t continue to do it. You won’t want to continue on your journey if you are not enjoying the journey you are on.

I know that most of these I have put that they are important. The reason they all are is that these are the steps and secrets you need to be able to accomplish your goals.
